Private childcare

For children from 1 year to 3 years

As a parent in Copenhagen, you can apply for a subsidy for minding your own child for a period of at least eight weeks and up to a year. You must meet a range of requirements to be eligible for the subsidy.

In private childcare by a childminder, the childminder only looks after other people’s children. Your child can be cared for in your home, the childminder's home, or on business premises. Private childcare by a childminder are for children between 24 weeks to 6 years old.

Private childcare institutions can be nurseries and kindergartens, which are privately run. You will need to contact the institution directly to apply for enrolment. Private childcare institutions are for children between 6 month and 6 years old.
