Deregister a person from your address
When moving, it is obligatory to report a change of address. If you know the person who is still registered as living at your address, ask them to report a change of address. The change will usually be registered right away.
If you are not able to get the person to report that they have moved, you can ask the Danish National Register (Folkeregistret) to deregister them from your address. This will take 6-8 weeks.
How to deregister a person from your address
If a person does not live at your address but is registered there, you have the right to deregister that person from your address. It is free of charge to deregister someone from your address.
To do so, you need to fill in this online form (in Danish) by logging in with MitID. You will need to include:
- A copy of your tenancy agreement or title document
- The full name and date of birth of each of the persons living at the address
- If possible, include the name and/or date of birth/civil registration number (CPR number) of the person you want to deregister, and the date they moved out.
If you do not have a MitID, you can book an appointment with Citizen Service so that we can help you.
The Danish National Register (Folkeregistret) will send a letter to the person requesting them to report a change of address within 14 days. If the person does not report the change of address or reply to the letter, the Danish National Register (Folkeregistret) will deregister them from the address.
If you do not have a MitID, you can book an appointment with Citizen Service and let us help you.
