Digital Post

Digital Post makes it possible for you to communicate digitally with your city about confidential matters.

You need a MitID to be able to send and receive Digital Post.

To read and send Digital Post, use the Digital Post app (download from App Store/Google Play) or log on to your digital mail box at lifeindenmark.dk, at e-boks.dk or at mit.dk.

Learn how to use Digital Post

At the city libraries you can get help for Digital Post and it is free of charge.

Granting read access to someone else for Digital Post

Via MitID you can grant a read-only access to someone else for your Digital Post so they can help you read your mail. You can revoke the read access at any time.

If you don't have MitID you can book an appointment with Citizen Service to let us help you set up the read-only access. Bring your passport or driving licence and the CPR number of the person you would like to give the read access to.

Exemption from using Digital Post for residents

If you are not able to receive Digital Post from the Danish public authorities, you can have your post sent to you as ordinary letter post instead. At lifeindenmark.dk you can read about the requirements for exemption.

To be exempted from receiving Digital Post, you can book an appointment with Citizen Service. At Citizen Service you will be asked to sign a statement that you satisfy at least one of the requirements for exemption. Bring ID such as your health insurance card (yellow health card), for example.

If you are unable to come in to a Citizen Service center in person, you can ask a relative to help you. Print and fill in the form Fuldmagt til anmodning om fritagelse fra Digital Post for borgere (affidavit for application for exemption from Digital Post for residents) (in Danish). Your relative should then book an appointment with Citizen Service to hand in the form. Your relative must bring ID such as a health insurance card (yellow health card).

Exemption from using Digital Post for businesses, associations, local community organizations and clubs

Businesses, associations, local community organizations and clubs with a CVR number (VAT or business registration number) are obligated to have a Digital Post mailbox and can only be exempted from using Digital Post in one of the following circumstances:

  • A broadband connection speed of at least 512 kbps is not possible to obtain. You can check the speed of available broadband connections at tjekditnet.dk (in Danish).
  • The business owner or a member of management has a disability and no one else in the company can manage the Digital Post mailbox
  • The business owner or a member of management is in prison and no one else in the company can manage the Digital Post mailbox.

Exemption due to a bad broadband connection

If you wish to be exempted due to a slow or unreliable broadband connection, you should book an appointment with Citizen Service.

Exemption for people with disabilities or due to imprisonment

If you have a disability and wish to be exempted, you should fill in the form Application for exemption from Digital Post for businesses (in Danish) and mail it to Erhvervsstyrelsen (Danish Business Authority).

If you are in prison and would like an exemption, fill in the form Application for exemption from Digital Post for businesses (in Danish) and mail it to Erhvervsstyrelsen (Danish Business Authority).
