What are my rights as a pregnant employee?
During pregnancy (and during maternity leave) you are well protected against being fired. This also applies if you are adopting a child.
The reason for dismissal must be valid
If your employer wants to dismiss you, he/she has to prove that this has nothing to do with your pregnancy. If this is not possible, you are as an employee entitled to compensation.

You are also entitled to maternity leave before the birth. If you work in the public sector, your maternity leave starts 8 weeks before your due date. If you work in the private sector, your maternity leave will typically start 4-5 weeks before your due date.
