Receiving subsidies after graduation

If you finish your education, and you cannot find a job, you may be entitled to unemployment benefits from your unemployment fund.

Unemployment benefits

You have to be a member of an unemployment fund to get unemployment benefits from the day you graduate. If you first join, when you graduate, you cannot get unemployment benefits in the first month.

Before you apply for unemployment benefit (dagpenge), you should contact your unemployment fund (a-kasse) or The Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment under the Ministry of Employment to make sure your possible unemployment benefit will not affect your residence permit

Cash benefits

You might also be able to get cash benefits, but then you have to meet certain requirements. Read more about social security benefits here.
