Get a new marriage certificate
You can have the marriage certificate made in Danish or as an international version in Danish, English, Spanish, French, and German.
The marriage certificate is free of charge.
If you were married by the established Danish church, you will have to contact the church where you were married to get a new marriage certificate.
How to get a new marriage certificate
Write to Vielseskontoret (the marriage office) via Digital Post or by letter. Find the address under 'Contact' below.
You will need to tell us:
- The year and date of your marriage, as precisely as possible
- Your names at the time of your marriage
- CPR numbers or date of births
- How you wish the certificate to be sent to you, by Digital Post or regular mail. If you choose regular mail, you must let us know the address to which you want us to send the certificate.
- Your choice of language for your new marriage certificate: Danish or the international version.
If you are applying for a new marriage certificate on behalf of someone else, you must submit a written authorization from one of the persons on the certificate. You can send us the authorization by regular mail, or you can send it digitally as a scanned document or as a photo. You can also submit a digital proxy (in Danish).
We will send the marriage certificate to you within three to four weeks.
