After school centres
Participation in after school centres is voluntary. Children can take part in a variety of activities such as music, theatre, painting, drawing, swimming, football, skating, etc. at after school facilities.
How to enrol your child in after school centres
Every school in Copenhagen has one affiliated after school care centre. The Placement Service (Pladsanvisningen) usually sends you an after school care offer between early April to late June.
The primary language used in after school centres is Danish. You can enrol your child in an after school centre when you enrol him or her in a district school, preferably before February 1st.
If your child has a delayed start in school or is transferred to another school, you should contact the placement service (Pladsanvisningen) using the details in the contact box below.
Guaranteed place
The city of Copenhagen guarantees a place for all children aged 6 to 9 years old in after school centres.
Opening hours
An after school centre is normally open after school hours until 17:00. During school holidays, the opening hours are from 7:00 to 17:00.
