Where will I give birth?

When you are pregnant, you can choose to give birth at the hospital or at home.

In Denmark you have to contact your doctor as soon as you discover that you are pregnant – or if you are pregnant on arrival – to establish the further process.

What does the doctor do?

The doctor confirms the pregnancy and refers you to a midwife and maybe to a hospital. If you do not speak Danish, you can have an interpreter present when visiting the midwife.

If you wish to have an induced abortion before the 12th week of pregnancy, this is legal in Denmark. Find more information on abortions here.
