Registering your change of address

When you move from one address in Denmark to another within Copenhagen, you need to report your address change or risk a fine.

When you change your address, you must inform the municipality to which you move. It is free of charge to register the change of address. You can do it online using your NemID (online ID/signature).

Registration deadline

Remember to register your change of address no later than 5 days after you have moved.  You can receive a fine of DKK 1000 if you miss the registration deadline.  Another option is to register your change in address as early as 28 days before you move.

Receiving your new yellow Health Card

To receive your new yellow Health Card with your new address, your name should be on the mailbox as soon as you move in.

You will receive the card within 2-4 weeks. If you don't receive it, contact a Citizen Service Centre within 60 days after you have registered the change of address so that you don’t need to pay for a new card.

You have the option to change to a new doctor

When you register your change of address online, you can choose a new doctor within a radius of 5 km from your new home, free of charge. Be aware that at the moment not many doctors are open to taking on new patients.
