How do I enroll my children in day care?

If you have a CPR-number and registered address in Copenhagen, you can register your child on a waiting list for day care.

Nursery and daycare

Age 6 months-2 years and 10 months

Your child can be looked after in a nursery (vuggestue) or in day care run by a child-minder (dagpleje) if the child is aged between 6 months and 2 years and 10 months. Register here: (in Danish).


Age 2 years and 10 months-5 years

Your child can be cared for in a kindergarten (børnehave) if the child is aged between 2 years and 10 months and 5 years. In the kindergarten there will be activities supporting the child’s development. Register here:ørnehaver (in Danish).

Non-Danish speaking children

If your child is non-Danish speaking, please contact the coordinator for newcomers by mail

The coordinator will also need to know your names, address, phone number, and the language, in which the child is most fluent.

The coordinator will make sure, that you will get an invitation to a meeting concerning your child’s needs and the process of enrollment. You must bring your child with you to the meeting. The meeting will be held, in the language, which the child is most fluent in. 

For Danish speaking children

You need to contact the office assigning day care, The Placement Service (Pladsanvisningen in Danish), for further guidance.
