Free Danish lessons in Copenhagen

If you are a foreign citizen who has moved to Denmark as an adult, you can in most cases obtain free Danish lessons.

The City of Copenhagen offers a Danish language training programme (Danskuddannelse). The training programme is offered at three different levels, Danskuddannelse 1, 2 and 3, and depends on how many years of schooling you have. You will be enrolled at the level and in the module that precisely fit your qualifications.

If you have come to Copenhagen as a refugee or family reunified persons from a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, you will probably be offered an integration programme of which the Danish language training programme forms part. Contact Jobcenter Integration for more information.

You must contact a language school yourself if you are:

  • an employee
  • a student
  • an accompanying spouse
  • a cross-border commuter from an EU/EEA country
  • an au pair

Please note: You will be charged a deposit of DKK 1250 when you enrol in a language school.
