Your child may be eligible for a free place subsidy in public childcare, private day care and private institutions if the total household income is less than DKK 181,500 per year. The parental payment rate is lowered if the total household income is below DKK 563,800 (before taxes) per year. However, please note that a free place subsidy is not applicable to private childcare run by a childminder.
Income limits for free place subsidy in 2020
- Below DKK 181,500 per year (before taxes) - Complete free place
- DKK 181,501 to DKK 563,799 per year (before taxes) - Partial free place
- DKK 563,800 (before taxes) and above per year - Paid in full by parents
The income limits are raised by DKK 7,000 for each child under 18 living at home apart from the first child living at home. The income limits are raised by DKK 63,506 for single parents.
