Can I get for reimbursement for chiropody treatment?

If you meet certain requirement for chiropody, you can get subsidies from the National Health Insurance.

If you are referred to the chiropodist by your GP (doctor) and your chiropodist is state-registered, the National Health Insurance will pay part of your expenses.
If you are to receive a subsidy for payment of chiropody you have to suffer from one of the following illnesses:

  • Diabetes
  • Ingrown nails
  • Scar tissue after radiotherapy
  • Severe arthritis.

If you choose a non-state-registered chiropodist, you are not eligible for a subsidy.

The subsidy from the National Health Insurance is automatically deducted from your chiropodist bill.

If you have a private health insurance with ”Sygesikringen danmark”, you must inform the chiropodist, who will make a digital report to ”Sygesikringen danmark”.

Additional subsidies

If you are a pensioner, you may apply for additional subsidies subject to the rules on health payments or personal payments.
