It is important to have a CPR number when living in Copenhagen. The CPR number is used in various situations related to salary payments, housing purchases, bank transactions, insurance, etc.
In order to get a CPR number you should meet the following criteria:
- You intend to stay in Denmark for more than 3 months.
- You have an EU residence document if you are an EU citizen (Nordic citizens excepted).
- You have a residence permit if you are a non-EU citizen.
- You have found a place to live.
You need to apply for your CPR number online - also if it is a re-entry and you already have a CPR or TAX number. Read more about the application proces and apply here
If your spouse / children are accompanying you, please make a joint application.
When you have sent in your application and it has been processed, we will contact you within two weeks by e-mail asking you to visit the International Citizen Service (located at the International House, Gyldenløvesgade 11, 1600 Copenhagen V). Please bring all relevant documents. After an ID check and final approval, you will receive your CPR number.
If we have questions concerning your application, we will contact you by e-mail.
