What to do with my waste?

You have to separate your waste when you live in Copenhagen. At your home there will be access to containers for different types of waste.

You can also take recyclable waste to the recycling station. See What are recycling stations (genbrugsstationer)?

As a resident in Copenhagen it is your responsibility to make sure that all your waste is sorted and delivered correctly, so we can process and utilize it in the best possible way.

Waste from private homes is divided into 4 categories that are to be treated differently:

  • Recyclable waste (paper, cardboard, etc.)
  • Hazardous waste
  • Residual waste
  • Bulky waste

The waste collection schemes depend on the kind of property you live in. Find information below whether you live in a single-family house or a block of flats.
