What are 'care days' (omsorgsdage)?

If you work in the public sector, you get 'care days’, which is paid time off work to be with your child.

This can be if your child needs to go to the doctor or maybe on the child’s first day of school.

Public sector employees

All parents working in the public sector are entitled to 'care days' up to and including the calendar year when the child turns seven.

Ask at your workplace for more information.

Private sector employees

If you work in the private sector, you are only entitled to 'care days' if this is stated in your individual employment contract, in your collective agreement, or in the agreement or staff policy that applies in your workplace.
