How do I apply for early retirement pension?

You can apply for early retirement pension if you are unable to provide for yourself due to reduced working capacity.

How to apply for early retirement pension

The processing time for an application for early retirement pension is 3 months.

Apply for individual benefits with this form (in Danish).
 

2 sets of regulations

New regulations were made about getting early retirement pension 1st of January 2003.

If you have applied for and gotten early retirement pension before 1st of January 2003, you get your pension after the old regulations.

If you have applied for and gotten early retirement pension after 1st of January 2003, you get your pension after the new regulations.

The old regulations

If you get early retirement pension after the old regulations you can apply for financial aid, for example:

  • Health benefits.
  • Personal benefits.
  • Heating benefits.
  • Housing benefits.
  • Aid to child support payment.
  • Reduced licence fee at Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR).

The new regulations

If you get early retirement pension after the new regulations, you can apply for financial aid, for example for medicine, dental payments and unsuspected bills. This is called individual benefits.
 

Udbetaling Danmark pays early retirement pension

Udbetaling Danmark (Payout Denmark) administrates early retirement pension. The City of Copenhagen decides if you meet the conditions to get early retirement pension, but Udbetaling Danmark pays it.

Therefore if you have questions about the payment, you must contact Udbetaling Danmark.
